The Office US star Steve Carell will lead a new thriller series on FX.
The upcoming 10-episode drama is titled The Patient and hails from The Americans showrunners Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg.
Carell, who was nominated for an Oscar thanks to his disturbing performance in 2014's Foxcatcher, will take on the role of therapist Alexander Strauss.

Strauss recently lost his beloved wife, but life finds a way of getting even worse when he's held hostage by a serial killer demanding to be relieved of his dark urges.
"But unwinding the mind of this man while also dealing with the waves of his own repressed troubles creates a journey perhaps as treacherous as his captivity," teases an official synopsis.

Meanwhile, Carell – who also appears in the likes of The Morning Show and Space Force – has frequently been asked about the possibility of an Office revival, but fans of the iconic sitcom might want to look away now.
"I just can't see it being the same thing, and I think most folks would want it to be the same thing, but it wouldn't be," he previously said. "Ultimately, I think it's maybe best to leave well enough alone and just let it exist as what it was.
"You'd literally have to have all of the same writers, the same producers, the same directors, and the same actors, and even with all of those components, it just wouldn't be the same."
