Virgin River star Alexandra Breckenridge has reacted to a character's "devastating" death.
The actress plays Mel on the Netflix series, whose friend Lilly (Lynda Boyd) tragically succumbed to pancreatic cancer and died in the show's recently premiered third season.

Speaking recently, Alexandra opened up about the effect of Lilly's death following a rough time for the character, saying the storyline was "devastating".

"It was so hard," Alexandra told TV Line. "I love Lynda Boyd so much. She's such a sweet person.
"She's so funny and fun to work with. I was devastated that her character is leaving this season. She's such a fantastic part of the show. I think that's why she was chosen to be that.
She added: "Your heart goes out to her. You've been watching her through the beginning, with her daughter and her husband dying. The audience really feels for her. That's what makes that storyline so devastating. You love her."

The comments follow Lynda Boyd confirming that she will return for Virgin River season 4, despite her character's demise.
