The Walking Dead: World Beyond spoilers follow.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond showrunner Matt Negrete has given fans a little hint about what to expect from the drama's upcoming episodes, promising that we'll be surprised by what's on the way for the characters.

World Beyond's latest episode 'Shadow Puppets', which aired in the US on November 8, introduced a pair of grifters named Percy (Ted Sutherland) and Tony (Scott Adsit) who tricked the show's group of lead characters, before returning to help Iris (Aliyah Royale) escape some walkers.

They then agreed to drive the Campus Colony group to New York, although with the caveat that they'll need to break into CRM territory first to refuel.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Negrete dropped the news that "things are going to get very real, very fast" for the characters now, with the shadow of the CRM set to provide some major drama.

What to Read Next

"In terms of our main group, we know that Percy and Tony have had some entanglements with the CRM and have one of their trucks," he said. "And they also have access to fuel.

"And they're going to need to get access to this fuel that belongs to the CRM in order to get to where they're going.

"Really, what we're doing is we're promising some future entanglements with the CRM. And I think people are going to see that we're going to pay that off in a very interesting and surprising way very quickly.

"So, yeah, I will say, each episode coming up after episode six, there will be some pretty shocking endings that are going to propel us into the subsequent episodes. And we're going to be shot out of a cannon pretty soon. So, things are going to get very real, very quickly."

Negrete also provided a little more detail about Hope's (Alexa Mansour) guilt, as she continues to keep the secret that she killed Elton's (Nicolas Cantu) mother Amelia (Christina Brucato).

Revealing that Hope is "not going to be able to keep it to herself", he said that "it won't be much longer before she at least comes clean" to somebody, although he wouldn't reveal which character Hope will confide in.

He previously said that Hope will "torture herself" with the information as she continues to grow closer to Elton.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond airs on Sundays on AMC in the US, and you can stream it on Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
