The Walking Dead: World Beyond's network AMC has clarified rumours that Rick Grimes is going to appear in the final episode of season one.

Some fans believed that Andrew Lincoln's franchise frontman would appear in the spin-off following a listing on IMDb, and some teaser-y comments from World Beyond star Nico Tortorella.

However, that isn't going to be the case, as a spokesperson for AMC told Insider that the IMDb listing is "not accurate".

Rick departed The Walking Dead back in season nine, as he was airlifted out of trouble via helicopter and taken away to who knows where.

Ahead of World Beyond's premiere, showrunner Matt Negrete said: "You will get answers as to potentially where Rick was taken. I think that we'll also get answers in terms of why he was taken there."

What to Read Next

Of course, it's important to note that World Beyond has already been commissioned for a second (and final) season, so we won't necessarily find out anything about Rick's whereabouts this year.

Andrew Lincoln is set to reprise the role for a spin-off movie, or series of movies, but that is currently in the planning stages, and we're not sure when the cameras are set to start rolling on it.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond airs on Sundays on AMC in the US, and you can stream it on Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
