Oscar-nominated actress Anna Kendrick is up against a walking, talking sex doll in new TV series Dummy.

With just a trailer to go off for now, it's looking like Dummy will be just as bonkers as its premise suggests, and we're totally here for that.

After discovering a speck of glitter on her boyfriend's bed, aspiring writer Cody (Kendrick) questions whether he's cheating on her.

The reality is much more disturbing than she could've ever imagined though, as the other woman he's doing the dirty with is in fact a sex doll - a feminist one.

In a twist bouncing off the same vibes as Seth MacFarlane's Ted movies, Cody is told by her therapist that embracing this plastic enemy will actually help with the healing process, leading her to take a road trip with the doll.

In an interview with Meaww earlier this month, series creator Cody Heller revealed how Dummy is autobiographical to a certain extent.

"My boyfriend at the time [Rick and Morty's Dan Harmon], he's now my fiancé, really did have a sex doll. And I knew about it and it was something that was occupying my mind.

"It all merged in this creative way of me imagining that the sex doll came to life and that she became my writing partner. I took the things that were really happening in my real life and put them on the page."

Dummy will drop on short-form mobile platform Quibi later this year.
