It's sad but true: Preacher is coming to an end with season four. But the people involved with the show are adamant that they are going to go out with a bang.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other media at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, actors Dominic Cooper (who plays Jesse), Julie Ann Emery (Lara), Ruth Negga (Tulip) and Mark Harelik (who plays... Mark Harelik) have been hyping up the final season.
"I feel like every episode is explosive," Cooper said. "There’s so much going on. It’s just unreal. This is what I thought was so incredible, what the writers did manage to do.

"They suddenly knew it was ending, I suppose, at the end of the third… But they introduced a lot of new characters already, and then they dared to introduce more. So they had a lot to wrap up.
"I think that must be very hard. You must get halfway through, or it must be easy to begin – and then you’ve got to work out how to wrap up each person’s storyline... The reason is, I think they had to – and they did it very well – they were making sure that there was nothing left un-sewed up. There was no unfinished business.
"Every single – you understand the journey of each person, and where they end up. I think that must have been a very hard task."
Emery agreed and added: "None of the episodes take a breath this season. Nothing settles down. Everything is just hardcore."
"Anybody who watches the two-episode premiere will have been injected with some highly addictive substance," said Harelik.

Both Cooper and Negga said that it would be wrong for the show to go on, and it having a proper beginning, middle and end was the best way to go about it.
Preacher will return for its final season on August 4 on AMC in the US, while Amazon Prime carries the show in the UK.
