Designated Survivor star Kiefer Sutherland has downplayed the chances of a fourth season for the show.
Speaking to Simon Mayo on Scala Radio, the actor believes a renewal won't happen in large part due to some of the complications surrounding contracts as a result of being on Netflix.
"I don't think [season 4] is going to happen," he said.

"We had an amazing experience with Netflix and a kind of freedom that was wonderful. But the reality is, because the contracts were so complicated and different from network television to Netflix, they didn't book a lot of the actors who were on the show and they took other jobs. I don't blame them for a second for that.
"So I think doing a season 4 would be very complicated and difficult."

He continued: "The truth is, I loved making that show. I also miss aspects of what I enjoyed about 24, which was something that was really visceral and physical. I think it's time for all of us to go and find something new to do."
Kiefer's comments come after Benjamin Charles Watson, who joined the cast in the third season as White House digital officer Dontae Evans, expressed optimism over the possibility of a season 4.
"I'm really, really optimistic," Benjamin told Digital Spy last month.
"I feel like we will get one... There are so many unanswered questions that need to be answered – even if we just get a fourth season to close everything that was left open in season 3...
"I'm hoping! My optimism is high, but you never know."
Designated Survivor is available to watch on Netflix.
