Just a couple of days ago, The Walking Dead star Danai Gurira confirmed the rumours she would be leaving the show in season 10 to explore other projects.
But not only is the door open for her return, she may already planning to step back through in a different way.
Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, show boss Scott Gimple said: "[Danai Gurira] has some amazing things ahead of her… and we're not completely done with her – I'll just say that."

Does that mean Michonne will be back in the Rick Grimes spin-off movie(s)? Rather than just saying no, Gurira called it "the unanswerable question", stating: "[I] don't know... neither would I tell you if I did. Ask the bosses, see if they crack!"

Speaking about her exit, the actress said: "It was hard. It is hard. It was a very tough decision to make. To say goodbye to the character, it's deeply emotional.
"The journey that Angela [Kang, showrunner] and her team constructed for Michonne, I'm very, very grateful for it. You want to leave having out everything out there and they were so generous to me and allowed me that sort of an exit and I'm very thankful for that."
Kang herself teased that: "[Michonne's exit] will obviously have some fallout and emotional consequences, but there's a very particular way in which it all happens, so hopefully it'll be surprising and interesting for our fans."
Actors Norman Reedus and Jeffrey Dean Morgan said that they were "bummed" to see her go, with the latter stating: "You can never replace a Rick Grimes, or a Michonne. Glenn. Abraham. You can't replace those characters.
"But Angela has figured out a way for us to move forward and people step up, not only as their characters but also as actors."
