The Punisher dropped its second season on Netflix on Friday (January 18) to mixed reviews, with some praising actor Jon Bernthal for his portrayal of brutal hero Frank Castle but others hoping for a faster paced run of episodes.
But whatever you thought of the season, actor Jon has revealed the one thing that he would have changed about the new season, explaining that there is one character he wishes Frank had spent more time with.
Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Karen Page, could only shoot one episode of The Punisher for season 2 due to scheduling conflicts with Daredevil, and now Jon has shared that if The Punisher gets a third season, he'd love to see more of Frank and Karen together.
"I wish that we could have had a little bit more time together," he told Entertainment Weekly. "It’s a relationship worth exploring. I think if anybody could handle Frank, it’s Karen."
The actor added that he'd also be very keen to see more of Frank and Karen's friendship in a potential third season too.
"I just know that it’s a real joy to work with Deborah Ann [Woll], and I hope she and I can find something to work on together one way or the other," he said.
What to Read Next
Seeing as Karen played a very important role in the second season despite her limited screen time, it would certainly be fascinating to see more of her.
Meanwhile, Bernthal admitted that he's trying not to think about whether The Punisher will get a third season, following Netflix's cancellation of fellow Marvel series Iron Fist, Luke Cage and even the popular Daredevil.
"I try to not think about things like that," he said. "There’s so much uncertainty in this profession and that’s something that I’ve come to not only accept, but to embrace and really dig, in a way.
"Not knowing what comes next can seem daunting and worrisome at times, but it's also tremendously exciting, and it makes life a bit of an adventure. I like to be surprised, and I like to just let what’s coming next come."
The Punisher's producers have made it clear that they want the show to continue, with executive producer Steve Lightfoot saying: "We left season two in a place where my hope was everyone would just be like, 'Fantastic, I can't wait for season 3'.
"And if we get to make season 3, I'll be absolutely delighted. I would love to make 10 seasons."
The Punisher is available to stream on Netflix now.
