Meet the world's ugliest pets – complete with pics
Hairless guinea-pigs, featherless chicks and more!
At first glance, the headline probably reads a tad harsh. But ITV is broadcasting a programme called The World's Ugliest Pets later on tonight – and contrary to the title, it's actually pretty beautiful! Reminding viewers that what really matters in life is what's on the inside, the show looks at how these unfortunate looking animals have transformed the lives of their owners for the better. Here's your first look at the hairless guinea-pigs, giant snails and featherless chicks that are going to melt your heart. The World's Ugliest Pets is on ITV tonight (Tuesday, March 20) at 8pm.
Let's start with Chase
Chase, who's 7 years old, came third in last year's annual World's Ugliest Dog competition in California. He's aiming for gold this year. We reckon he's in with a good chance...
Featherless chick
What Rhea lacks in feathers, she makes up for in Instagram followers. The teeny chick has a respectable army of 435,000 fans on social media – a number set to rise after tonight's show airs.
The red-eyed guinea pig
It doesn't take Albert Einstein to figure out why Ashleigh Loach decided to call her guinea pig Nudey – the poor thing has very little hair. As if that didn't make her striking enough, she also has blood-red eyes.
All hail Khaleesi
Khalessi is a Sphynx cat – a breed which naturally doesn't grow fur. That might make her a little strange to some, but to cat-lover Linda Elmer it's a dream come true, as she's allergic.
Supersize snail
Apparently, some people like to keep snails as pets – but not just any old snails. Giant snails. Just check this guy out.
The reigning champ
Martha is an A-lister among the world's ugliest pets, as she's the reigning winner of the World's Ugliest Dog Contest. Her owner Shirley Zindler is hoping Martha can defend her title this year.
Don't let the frown fool you
This little dude has pretty much zero fur and we'll be finding out why in tonight's show. He looks like he's frowning in this pic, but there's a heartwarming story behind his journey.
Eye spy
Is this fella really up for the World's Ugliest Pet title just because he has different coloured eyes? David Bowie (RIP) would have had something to say about this!
