The bi-annual charity telethon concluded late Friday night with the public having raised an incredible £24,638,037 for cancer research and support — an £8.6 million increase on the £16 million raised two years ago.

So, nervously reclining on a table in the middle of the studio, Adam Hills was ready for action. He was fine after the first wax-off, but the second left him screaming in pain.

Still, that didn't stop Alan Carr teasing the audience to call for the waxer to go "lower" down Adam's chest. Yet as Maya Jama told Adam to "breathe", Alan saw their co-host was in real pain and suggested they stop – but Adam bravely took one more for the team in the name of charity.

"We gotta do this!" he declared to cheers from the audience.

But if waxing one of TV's most beloved comedy personalities wasn't enough entertainment for you, there was a whole host of hilarious comedy throughout the night.

Celebrity Gogglebox returned with EastEnders' Danny Dyer and his Love Island star daughter Dani as well as One Direction's Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson offering their comedic insights on everything from University Challenge to The Haunting of Hill House.

James Corden got crooner Michael Bublé to come along on a ride for a very special edition of Carpool Karaoke, and The Great Celebrity Bake Off announced its line-up for next year. All in all, it was a great night for a very worthy cause!

Stand Up to Cancer aired on Channel 4. To donate, click here or text TEN or TWENTY to 70404 to make donations in those amount of pounds.
