Thanks to one Twitter user, the mystery has been solved – as Tom was actually on ITV's reboot of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? with Jeremy Clarkson earlier this year.
"Tom Holmes was on Who Wants to be a Millionaire when Jeremy Clarkson did it a few months ago. My husband thinks it's weird that I recognised his face," they wrote.
It comes after others were left scratching their heads over where they'd seen the contestant before.
"Can anyone help me with what Tom on #CrystalMaze has been on on TV before? It's annoying me why he looks familiar," wrote one.
Another tweeted: "Where is this guy Tom from? I have seen him on tv before but can't think what show!"
