Despite shaking up the series last year, The X Factor may be about to dramatically change things up again – this time by hiring a whole new team of judges.

Show boss Simon Cowell has decided to axe Nicole Scherzinger from the lineup, according to The Sun, while Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne are also apparently unlikely to be coming back for the 15th series later this year.

An X Factor spokesperson told Digital Spy: "There is always speculation regarding The X Factor judging panel."

As for who might replace them, former judge Cheryl Tweedy has been rumoured for a comeback, as have One Direction's Louis Tomlinson and Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon.

In fact, back in January, presenter Dermot O'Leary seemingly let slip that Cheryl was due to return to the show after a few years of absence, though was more guarded recently when pressed on a potential return for the Girls Aloud star.

Cheryl last appeared as a judge on the ITV show in 2015, though made a surprise appearance last series as a guest judge with Simon Cowell at Judges' Houses.
