From sparring, to maggot eating, and discussing a dream to change the mindset of troubled youth – one hour with Anthony Joshua and Bear Grylls on the coast of Cornwall was jam-packed with emotion.

Bear Grylls's latest adventure series for ITV, called Bear's Mission, saw the heavyweight champion ditch the boxing ring for a funny, frightening and weirdly inspiring climb up Cornwall's Commando Ridge.

As the episode unravelled, it soon become evident that while 17-stone Joshua might be confident taking on boxing champions in the squared circle, he most certainly doesn't feel quite as comfortable scaling the heights.

"The closest thing to climbing cliff I've done, is walking up and down the stairs in my house," Joshua said as he stared up at one of the UK's most notorious climbing ridges.

Oh Anthony. We're sorry. But that was funny. πŸ˜‚

Jokes aside, Bear seemed to be having the time of his life sparring and feasting on weird (and not so wonderful) things like maggots. All the while, Anthony didn't let down his guard β€” he is the world champ, after all!

The 28-year-old said during the programme: "Now I look back, I think if there's anything I want to attach myself to, it's to help change the mindset of kids that are going through tough times because it starts from here [he points to his head]."

As a father-of-one, Anthony also suggested how the birth of his 19-month old has given him a greater purpose in life. Cute! 😊

"It's been a blessing," he beamed. "Before it was all about me, I lived for myself but then when I had my son, I started realising there is someone who is going to be here after I'm gone and that's what he taught me, build something that they will respect and appreciate when I'm not here anymore."

Bear's Mission continues next Friday on ITV at 9pm with special guest Rob Brydon.
