Mischa Barton didn't have the best luck when she appeared on Dancing with the Stars over in the US earlier this year.

The OC star was the second celebrity to be eliminated along with her dance partner Artem Chigvinstev, of former Strictly Come Dancing fame.

Now she's opened up about the whole experience in an interview with The Ringer, which claims she 'shuddered' when the series was brought up and said: "Ugh. I had no idea it would be so bad."

Mischa said that the show had been asking her to appear for years, and she agreed on the condition that she was given creative control.

The actress claimed that this never materialised and admitted that she clashed with Artem.

"I got told off by my dancer," she said. "I was supposed to control the costumes. I was told that I could do the design aspect of it, that's kind of the reason why I agreed to do it.

"That didn't happen. It wasn't collaborative like a choreographer on a film set... I was so confused by it. It was like The Hunger Games. It was all a popularity contest. It was awful. I was so glad to get kicked off."

Artem left Strictly Come Dancing in 2013 after being partnered with Kara Tointon, Holly Valance, Fern Britton and Natalie Gumede.

Fern previously said that she was mistreated by the dancer when she appeared on the show and that he used to "kick" and "shove" her.

Artem responded by saying that he treated her with "respect and genuine care".
