Saara Aalto escaped elimination tonight (November 6) after singing against Four of Diamonds in the bottom two - and Sharon Osbourne blames herself for it.

On the usual Xtra Factor segment - which the judges seem to hate - one viewer asked Sharon whether Saara was over-produced last night and whether it was all her mentor's fault.

Saara was widely criticised for her performance of Girls Aloud's 'Sound of the Underground'. The unusual Japanese-inspired styling really hit a dud note with both the judges and the audience.

Answering the viewer's tough question, Sharon insisted that she "takes all the blame here".

She agreed that the performance was over-produced and hinted that next week's track choice will "definitely just concentrate on the song".

Saara Aalto sung a pitch-perfect rendition of Jessie J's 'Who You Are', which received praise from all four judges, as Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon voted her through to next week.

Four of Diamonds belted out a cover of 'When You Believe' by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.

It seems the judges are continuously having to apologise on behalf of their contestant, as just last week Simon revealed that it was his fault Gifty Louise left the competition.
