The Xtra Factor host Melvin Odoom is bringing us backstage gossip from behind the scenes of The X Factor every week...

"We're in Week Two!

"This week we've spent lots of time at the contestants' house to get a real insight into their lives and find out what happens on a day to day basis.

"Obviously at this stage we know they're all super talented, but we really wanted to get to know their personalities and backgrounds. They're all such amazing characters.

"Reggie and Bollie are so fun and easy-going and not that many people know they're fathers, too.

"Che is hilarious, vibrant and brings loads to the house, 4th Impact are so cute and humble… Every act is so individual, and it's great to see what they bring to the show every week.

What to Read Next

"With us getting to know all the contestants, Rochelle and I are finding each show is getting harder and harder having to say bye to those who are evicted. Up until this point, we've been able to be really light-hearted, but now we realise how much this means to everyone.

"I think Alien Uncovered leaving especially was a shock to everyone. They gave such a good first audition, I reckon most people thought they'd be in the competition for the long run!

"Bupsi was also such a massive character. She's a great vocalist, so I reckon the reason she left must have been down to the song choice.

"I think Mason Noise has already changed the opinion of the public, and we get along so well. I'll definitely keep in touch with him after the competition. Although I have to say I'm a bit worried as my sister fancies him!

"Also this week, huge congratulations are in order for Simon who won the MITS award this week in recognition of his contribution to the music industry and many charitable causes.

"It just goes to show that on TV he may be Mr Nasty but he's doing so many great things behind the scenes. I was at the event myself, which was an honour, and being there just made me realise how much of a huge entity The X Factor is.

"And on Kiss FM this week I met Ariana Grande and spoke to her about her brand new single 'Focus' and her new album.

"She's got such a beautiful character and is so talented. She told us the next thing on her bucket list is that she wants to write a book about her experience and what she's been through. She was telling Rickie and myself how important it is to be positive, especially when you're a role model to young people.

"On a final note, bring on this weekend's X Factor and Xtra Factor! All the contestants have been so amazing up until now, so when you throw in all the costumes, hair and make-up you really start to see how they're taking shape as artists.

"I can't wait to see what's to come!"

The X Factor continues tomorrow (November 7) at 8pm on ITV and on Sunday (November 8) at 8pm on ITV, with The Xtra Factor following at 9pm on ITV2. You can also listen to Melvin every weekday on Kiss FM from 6am-9am.
