Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing has opened up about his fears surrounding parenthood, admitting the thought of having a baby is "really scary" to him.

During a recent episode of his Great Company podcast, the reality star said he would "really like" to have a child with his wife Sophie Haboo - who he tied the knot with in April 2023 - though added that it's been a "real long road" to get to this point due to his concerns.

"I would really like to have one, but it has been a real long road because I was really scared of babies and I was really scared of commitment," he shared.

Jamie continued: "The idea of not being able to escape something... with work or even divorce, there's always a way out. But with a baby there's no way out. There is no way out because you are committed to that little human forever and that for me is really quite scary.

"Still really scary, it is a real fear. To the point where at the start of last year, Sophie thought she was pregnant and I had to leave the restaurant because I was so stressed.

"Firstly that is not a good partner. It made me really nervous, but also made Sophie really scared because as a partner you want someone secure and relaxed, and it made her feel uneasy."

Jamie and Sophie first started dating in 2019, before getting engaged in 2021 and saying 'I do' in 2023.

Last year, Jamie landed a co-hosting job on BBC Radio 1, with the star replacing Jordan North on the radio station after Jordan decided to switch over to Capital FM's Breakfast Show.

However, the announcement received some backlash from listeners who were unhappy at the idea of the reality TV personality teaming up with Vick Hope and Katie Thistleton.

In response to the backlash, Jamie said: "I was doing Made in Chelsea back in the day and then people sort of think maybe I got to do Radio 1 because I was on a reality show. And I would probably think that's unfair, right?

"I suppose for me, I've been trying to work towards that for eight years, doing little trials. Doing a stint when Mollie King, lovely Mollie King was on maternity leave. And they finally sort of offered me the job. Hopefully I'm doing an OK job, I think."
