Strictly Come Dancing star Ellie Leach has unveiled a hairstyle transformation, with the actor opting for a shorter look.

Leach participated in the 21st season of the BBC show last year, eventually going on to lift the Glitterball Trophy with professional partner Vito Coppola.

Just over a year from her triumph, the star – who played Faye Windass on Coronation Street for 12 years until her departure in 2023 – took to Instagram stories to unveil a new hairstyle, writing “did it” as she showcased a shorter look with a selfie.

Since her departure from Corrie and stint on Strictly, Leach was featured in the ITV reality show Drama Queens, which followed various stars from the world of soaps as they balanced their day-to-day life with their career.

Amidst all this, Leach landed a role on the stage, as she was cast in Cluedo 2 - The Next Chapter, which is based on the popular board game. After touring the UK, Leach took a break over the summer before announcing her return in September, with the star announcing her “reset.”

“Starting back at work tomorrow after having six weeks off,” wrote Leach, who plays Miss Scarlett in the production. “Feeling so grateful to have had the most amazing summer and grateful to be going back to work, but also feeling anxious too which is completely fine and normal.

“Having time off work is scary, I worry that I won't remember what to do when I go back but hopefully once I get back in rehearsals the excitement will kick in and the anxiety will slowly go away! We're back on tour now until November.”

Before this, the actor had addressed the prospect of reprising her role as Faye on Corrie in the future, saying: “I mean never say never, obviously. [Faye] didn't die. I spent so many amazing years there, I grew up there, and they will always be like my family, so yeah, it was an amazing experience and I loved it.”

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
