Drag Race UK star La Voix is keeping herself busy over the festive season as she returns to the stage.

The season six runner-up is starring in a pantomime production of Aladdin over the Christmas period alongside BBC Radio 2 presenter Vernon Kay.

Chatting exclusively with Digital Spy about her excitement to get into character as a pantomime dame, La Voix enthused about the importance of theatre and the British tradition of panto.

The Drag Race finalist highlighted the value pantomimes can provide for young children.

"When you think back about going to pantos, it's the first experience of theatre for a lot of children," La Voix remarked. "I think in this day and age, it's just so nice for kids to be able to go somewhere they're allowed to shout out, and boo, and scream, and make noise.

"There are so many times for kids where they’re told to be quiet or shut up. When you come to panto, all those rules go out the window and you can holler, and shout and cheer. I think as a kid, I remember that just being so freeing and so much fun.

"Also, they really invest in the story and that's what's so important about pantomime. We're telling the story to keep the magic of theatre alive for the kids."

This marks La Voix’s second pantomime role at the Wycombe Swan theatre, as in 2023 she starred in the production of Beauty and the Beast.

"I'm thrilled to be back at the Wickham Swan and with Vernon Kay by my side," the former Britain’s Got Talent star said. "We're creating lots of panto madness!"

Wycombe Swan's Aladdin runs from December 13, 2024, to January 5, 2025. Tickets are available now.
