Strictly Come Dancing has revealed the identity of a third celebrity contestant who will compete on this year's series.

The BBC talent show will be back on screens this autumn with a new celebrity line-up taking to the floor to impress with their dance skills.

Wynne Evans is the third celebrity to be announced, a Welsh opera singer and BBC Radio Wales presenter, who is also known for singing the theme tune on the Go Compare car adverts.

He joins the previously confirmed JB Gill of JLS fame and comedian Chris McCausland.

"I am honestly still pinching myself, a portly balding opera singer, me, taking part in Strictly Come Dancing?!" he told Kay. "I’m not entirely sure how I’ll get along. If all else fails, I’ll just have to learn the art of distraction.

"What I do know is, I will give it my all and aim to make Wales proud. I’m definitely going to try and combine my love of opera into one of my routines.

"Plus, after winning Celebrity MasterChef last year, maybe the route to the judges’ hearts will be through their stomachs!"

Evans has enjoyed a successful 25-year operatic career, with highlights including two number one classical musical albums, plus the honour of performing as a principal at a number of prestigious opera houses around the world.

The television star currently presents a daily radio show on BBC Radio Wales and has previously been on the airwaves for BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM.

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
