Married at First Sight expert Mel Schilling has marked a big milestone in her cancer treatment, confirming she has completed chemotherapy.

Last year, the dating coach revealed that she had been diagnosed with colon cancer, and has shared a number of updates since.

After confirming last month that she was about to undergo her final round of chemotherapy, Schilling has now shared that the treatment has ended.

Posting a smiling picture with her husband Gareth and daughter Maddie, the star wrote: "Chemo done, Australia here we come #MAFSAUSEASON12."

Schilling previously underwent surgery late last year for her cancer as well as chemotherapy.

Speaking back in May, the dating expert opened up about the toll the treatment has taken on her, telling OK! Magazine: "Feeling fatigued and nauseous is a bigger part of my everyday life. It feels like I'm hungover or pregnant every day, which is not fun.

"In true 'me' fashion, the day we moved was the day I started chemotherapy – I don't do things by halves."

She added: "It's been a tricky time as I've been adjusting to going through that and moving house. But Gareth has been doing most of the move so I'm very lucky he's happy to pick up the slack."

Schilling later encouraged fans to keep a look out for symptoms as she shared her surgery scars.

"I'm sharing this here to highlight the fact that the IDEA of bowel cancer does not have to be big and scary," she said.

"There is no need to ignore your symptoms or avoid talking to your doctor – in fact, the sooner you take action on your symptoms, the less intervention you're likely to need."
