Dancing on Ice star Greg Rutherford has shared a health update after pulling out of the series finale.

The Olympian was set to compete against Coronation Street's Ryan Thomas, Made in Chelsea's Miles Nazaire and I'm a Celebrity's Adele Roberts in Sunday's live final of the star-studded skating show.

However, he was sadly forced to quit at the final hurdle after sustaining a significant injury.

Now updating fans on his situation, Rutherford's revealed he's soon set to see a specialist for further medical attention.

Posting a video on his Instagram Stories, Rutherford attempted to shed light on his health struggle after receiving several messages from concerned fans.

"Loads of people are asking exactly what’s happened," he explained. "I’ll be able to give you a full rundown tomorrow.

"I’m seeing a specialist to figure out a plan of action and everything else. But my stomach is not in a good way and it’s going to need fixing.

"So, that is what is going to be happening. But I’ll give you a full rundown of everything when I know exactly what’s happening."

Rutherford previously told fans he's looking forward to getting started on recovery after a "rough first night."

"Recovery starts now," he wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo go himself sat in bed. "After a pretty rough first night, I'm looking forward to getting everything sorted and sewn up so I can get back to normal. Thank you all so much for your kind messages."

Rutherford didn't share any further details on his injury, but it was revealed on Sunday (March 10) that it had caused him to be hospitalised.

"Unfortunately Greg has sustained a significant injury this morning at rehearsals and won't be able to perform tonight," his professional skating partner Vanessa James revealed in a post on Instagram.

"We are on our way to the hospital for Greg to get examined further and receive the treatment he needs."

The Olympian also congratulated soap star Ryan on being crowned as series champion in a separate Story, writing: "So proud of @ryanthomas84. He's had his fair share of ups and downs during this process, so to come out winning is utterly spectacular.

Sunday's final saw Miles finish as runner-up alongside professional partner Vanessa Bauer while Adele and Mark Hanretty came in third place.

The ITV dancing series also had its future confirmed, with co-host Stephen Mulhern revealing to viewers that the show would be back in 2025.
