Strictly Come Dancing’s Amy Dowden has shared a new update on her health, admitting that she feels "in limbo" after finishing chemotherapy.

The professional dancer, who was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May this year, finished her final round of treatment earlier this month.

She previously shared an emotional video on her Instagram, documenting the moment when she rang the bell to signify the end of her chemotherapy treatment. She was seen hugging her family and friends and thanking the nursing staff in the hospital where she had received care.

Dowden has now reflected on this special day, resharing the video on her Instagram Story where she commented: "Can’t believe it’s a whole two weeks ago!"

She also gave an update on her health and how she is currently feeling, saying: "I’m off to the unit again today for my monthly injection. But it does feel strange as when you’re in chemo cycles there’s such a routine and atm you feel a little in limbo! But still so very proud of this moment!"

Dowden’s cancer diagnosis meant she was unable to compete as a pro in this year’s series of Strictly, but she has made regular appearances in the ‘Clauditorium’ with the rest of the cast on Saturday shows, as well as having a catch up with fellow pro Janette Manrara on Strictly: It Takes Two.

While she hoped to make a return to the dancefloor at some point this series, last week she shared the news that she had fractured her foot alongside a photo of her wearing a boot, therefore scuppering these plans.

"Absolutely gutted and heartbroken," she said on her Instagram. "2023 is certainly not my year, roll on 2024 I say!"

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
