Former X Factor star Lucy Spraggan has called for a massive change to the series amid rumours that a reboot is in the works.

The singer, who appeared on the show in 2012, has said in an interview with Metro that if there is a reboot happening, then the show needs to go through some pretty big changes.

"There would have to be a massive change," she said of the show.

"I'm really keen to be a part of that change and I've been having some conversations that I can't really talk about now but about being part of that change so that's really positive," she added.

She also spoke about what it is like to live her life post appearing on the popular talent show.

"It's really different growing up in the public eye. You can't ever undo going on X Factor," she said, "People will always say, 'Are you that girl off of X Factor?' Even if you look completely different, people will still ask."

"I look back on it – there were some really f**king hard things I went through, but I'm sitting here right now because I did," she added.

The X Factor is known for producing some of the biggest British talent in terms of music. One Direction, Leona Lewis, Olly Murs and Little Mix are all products of the popular singing show.

As for the way contestants are treated on the show, Lucy thinks The X Factor needs to do a better job at taking care of their talent.

"They do need to look after people and they need to be more frank about how traumatic fame is. I think they need to get contestants to say, 'What do we need to do here?' Ex-contestants [should say], 'How can we make this better for other people?'" she said.

Digital Spy has reached out to The X Factor for comment.

As for whether the show will return, there are rumours swirling that there will be a reboot, and judge Simon Cowell has all but promised that The X Factor will definitely come back.
