This Morning hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary were given quite the surprise today (March 25) by Ant and Dec.

Alison and Dermot were presenting their usual Friday slot when the duo suddenly marched into the studio unannounced – cymbals in hand – leaving Alison fairly shocked.

Ant and Dec then explained to the confused presenters that they wanted to remind viewers that Saturday Night Takeaway was back on screens tomorrow evening following a week off air.

"We were actually just passing, we were on our way to film something for tomorrow night's show, but we just wanted to remind you and everybody because we had a week off last week because of the rugby, so we just wanted to remind you all that we're back tomorrow night at 7pm," Dec explained.

Ant then joked: "We normally see you in the tea bar don't we after you finish the show, but we thought we'd interrupt your show!"

"This is how you feel when Stephen Mulhern comes on," Dermot quipped.

Dec then revealed that they had Line of Duty's Anna Maxwell Martin on as guest presenter for tomorrow night's return, with Michael Bublé popping up as the musical guest.

"Anyway, we'll let you be. Sorry about that," Ant said.

Well, that's certainly one way to plug a show.

Before they departed, Dec admitted that Phil Vickery was stressing backstage as his dessert was still in the oven, before the chef rushed back in to check his food wasn't burnt. Poor Phil.

"Gosh, I didn't expect that… What just happened?" Alison then joked.

As Dec mentioned, Saturday Night Takeaway was off air last weekend due to the Six Nations, with sporting fixtures – namely the FA Cup – also affecting fellow ITV series Dancing on Ice last Sunday.

This Morning airs on weekdays from 10am on ITV. Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway continues at 7pm on March 26 on ITV.
