So You Think You Can Dance season 17's wheels are finally turning again.
It's been three long years since the reality TV hit's sixteenth season aired in the US on Fox – presented as ever by Cat Deeley – but this sizeable gap between seasons was never part of the plan; its continuation was delayed back in June 2020 due to COVID-19.
The Hollywood Reporter states that auditions for the latest round of competition opened this month, with dancers aged 18-30 welcome to give it a try.

When So You Think You Can Dance season 17 was first put on pause, Deeley and judges Mary Murphy, Nigel Lythgoe and Laurieann Gibson were all poised to come back, but nothing is set in stone right now as to who will be back.
At the time, Fox shared that it had decided to shut things down because it couldn't "meet the standards we’ve set for viewers and contestants in light of the show’s unique format, intricate production schedule and limited time".

As for the last season to air, it was dancer Bailey Muñoz who took home the glory, with Mariah Russell its runner-up, Gino Cosculluela in third place and Sophie Pittman in fourth.

Back across the pond we have something similar coming up to look forward to, as BBC Wales recently announced a brand-new series titled Dare to Dance, fronted by Strictly Come Dancing favourite Amy Dowden.
This upcoming dance show will feature individuals and groups performing a big, specific routine to surprise their family or friends on a special occasion, all choreographed by Dowden herself.
