Channel 4 decided to call time on The Circle earlier this year, but with the US version drawing in big numbers on Netflix, is the American series set to suffer the same fate?
The answer, Netflix has confirmed, is no.
Just a few months after Channel 4 announced it would not be bringing back The Circle for a fourth season, Netflix has delivered some good news for fans of the catfish competition.
Per a blog post confirming a bumper new reality slate, Netflix has revealed that as well as an upcoming third season, The Circle US will return for at least another two new runs in the future.

"Season 3 of the competition series The Circle is just around the corner, and season 2 was already one of our most popular unscripted shows of 2021 – more than 14 million households tuned in within 28 days after it premiered in April," Netflix's vice president of unscripted and documentary series, Brandon Riegg, said.

"Thanks to the overwhelming response, we've already renewed the show for two more seasons (4 and 5)... The talented and quick-witted Michelle Buteau will return to host both seasons."
News of The Circle US' return offers hope to fans of the UK series, which was cancelled after three years on air back in May, as producers Studio Lambert are believed to be in talks with Netflix about both shows.

"The second season of The Circle US is doing very well on Netflix and we are in talks with Netflix about the future of the show in both America and in the UK," a spokesperson told Digital Spy earlier this year.
Is a comeback for The Circle just around the corner? We'll have to wait and see.
