The Great British Bake Off wouldn't be Bake Off without the real Star Baker Paul Hollywood, who has been with the series since it began in 2010.

But on Tuesday night's (March 24) celebrity edition of the show one contestant suggested he had the skills to replace Paul.

While making his pistachio and cardamom éclairs, Queer Eye star Tan France quipped: "I feel like this is my future.

"Could you imagine if I replaced Paul? It would be amazing!"

Tan went on to joke that Paul could take his place in the Fab Five. "Could you imagine Paul trying to style people?" he said.

"I wonder if he's made more of an effort because he knows I do this for a living, because he looks better than he's looked ever."

But Tan's confidence in his baking skills wasn't misguided – he ended up being crowned Star Baker after his impressive 'greatest fear' Showstopper cake which featured a wrinkly version of his face to demonstrate his fear of ageing.

Tan beat comedian Joel Dommett, tennis champ Johanna Konta and Jonathan Creek star Caroline Quentin to the title.

While Paul may not be leaving the Bake Off tent anytime soon, sadly host Sandi Toksvig is departing the show after the current celebrity series.

Sandi's presenting partner Noel Fielding will now be joined by former Little Britain and Doctor Who star Matt Lucas for the new series later this year.
