Poor James Acaster didn't exactly have the best experience in The Great Celebrity Bake Off tent earlier this week.

The comedian took part in the Stand Up To Cancer celebrity series, though his bakes turned out so bad that even we labelled him possibly the worst baker in the show's history. Sorry, James.

However, as with these things, the star has already become an internet sensation over his episode, one particular moment sparking the imagination of a nation.

Presenting one bake to the judges, James declared: "I started making it, had a breakdown… bon appétit!"

His soupy attempt at flapjacks was also a particular highlight, while his "deconstructed" cream horn-themed technical ended up more deconstructed than thought.

Well, James has now responded to his new internet sensation status, tweeting simply: "I'm a goddamn meme."

And fans couldn't agree more:

At the end of the episode, to everyone's surprise (!), James was not crowned Star Baker, with the honour instead going to Michelle Keegan.

"What a crock of nonsense," James joked afterwards.

Still, while James may have had a 'mare, he wasn't the only one to produce a disaster, as Rylan Clark-Neal made a cake that looked very much like a poo.

However, the bake met the judges' approval in the end, Prue Leith even declaring it "delicious".

The Great Celebrity Bake Off continues next Tuesday (March 19) at 8pm on Channel 4. To find out more about Stand Up to Cancer, or to donate, visit the website.
