Katie Waissel had previously starred in her own reality TV show before appearing on this year's X Factor.
According to The Sun, the singer was picked from 200 people to feature in online programme Green Eyed World.
Using the name Katie Vogel, the 24-year-old was followed as she split from her boyfriend and went to the US to work in the music industry.
The 14-part series attracted almost 155,000 views on YouTube.
The show begins with hotel receptionist Katie saying: "Everyone has a story, a dream, a song to sing. This is mine."
Waissel was seen on tonight's episode of The X Factor impressing the judges with her rendition of Etta James's 'At Last'.
