Rachel Hylton has been eliminated from The X Factor after finding herself in the final showdown for the third time.

The mother-of-five competed against boyband JLS in the sing-off after failing to impress the public with a performance of 'Rule The World' in a Take That theme week. Meanwhile, JLS had sang a rendition of 'A Million Love Songs'.

After both acts had performed again, it was left to the four judges to decide their fates. Hylton picked up just one vote of support from her mentor Dannii Minogue, while Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh all chose to save JLS.

Speaking afterwards, Hylton insisted: "I'm fine. Someone has to go home."

Minogue added: "An amazing, amazing girl. We've had an amazing time. I'm really sad to see you go."

The results will now be determined by the public vote alone for the rest of the competition. Next week's show will feature guest appearances from Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus.
