Dominic Purcell has unfortunately been injured on the set of Fox's Prison Break revival.

The Lincoln Burrows actor has shared proof on Instagram of a rather grisly facial injury - which he apparently got when an iron bar collided with his face.

However, The Hollywood Reporter says that Purcell was back to work quickly and production on the heavily-hyped miniseries will not be delayed at all.

Writing about his bruised face with tongue-in-cheek humour on Instagram, Purcell explained: "So what do u do when you escape the #grimreaper and lose 12 pounds in the desert? Well life goes on with or without.

"I wish I could say I discovered something profound out of my near miss. Ummmmm nothing yet just a broken nose and a hundred stitches in my head. So just Get going and see what the f......k happens I guess!"

Purcell reunites with Wentworth Miller and Sarah Wayne Callies for a storyline where Lincoln and his buddies bust INTO jail when they find out that the 'long-dead' Michael is actually still alive.

Prison Break is scheduled to air on Tuesdays on Fox next year in the US.
