9-1-1: Lone Star has added a Batwoman and a Prison Break star to its cast, with both actors set to be playing characters who will have a big impact on Tommy Vega's life.

TVLine reports that Prison Break and Hightown star Amaury Nolasco will be the first of the pair to appear in the Fox series, taking on the role of widower Morris in the episode airing on April 11.

Tommy (Gina Torres) will meet Morris at her grief group and the pair end up going on a date, with Morris being the first person that Tommy has shown a romantic interest in since her husband Charles passed away during season two.

However, according to TVLine, the date will take an "unexpected turn" before it's over – but will the date end up being a pleasant or a horrendous experience for Tommy?

Also showing up to make an impact on Tommy will be her brother-in-law Julius Vega, who will be played by Batwoman and Devious Maids actor Nathan Owens.

Musician Julius will show up to surprise Tommy and her twin daughters, Izzy and Evie, at the girls' birthday party after he arrives in Austin to play some gigs.

But while his nieces are delighted to see him again, Tommy isn't initially so thrilled as she hasn't spoken to him since he didn't turn up at Charles' funeral. Will Julius be able to explain himself to Tommy, or will he find himself being turned away?

Owens will make his first appearance as Julius in the episode airing on April 18 and he will then become a recurring character.

Star Torres recently addressed an emotional scene earlier in the season which saw Tommy prepare a romantic dinner for her and Charles' wedding anniversary and eat it alone, saying that the show "really earned this moment".

She also spoke about her hopes that the scene will have been a comfort to some of the show's viewers, saying that the romantic gesture gives Tommy "peace".

"If I can, in turn, give that peace to somebody who may be watching the show and struggling with mourning in their own way, my job is done," she explained.

9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star both air on FOX and Hulu in the US and Sky Witness in the UK.
