BAFTA TV Awards 2015 as they happened: Live blog

Join Digital Spy as we follow the biggest UK TV awards night of the year.
Headshot of Tom EamesBy Tom EamesPublished: 10 May 2015

We may be at home in our loungewear with a tea on standby rather than in a tux and drinking wine, but that doesn't mean the BAFTA TV Awards won't still be a blast.

Join us from 8pm tonight (May 10) for the House of Fraser BAFTA TV Awards 2015 as we follow along with the biggest UK TV awards night of the year, with Graham Norton hosting from the Theatre Royal. The awards may actually have started at 7pm, but we'll be playing along with the BBC One broadcast, so don't worry about spoilers here!

Who will triumph from the likes of Sherlock, EastEnders, Sheridan Smith and Happy Valley? We shall soon find out, so please join us by tweeting @digitalspy and leaving comments below.

22:03What did you make of that, then? A few surprises and shocks along the way - were you generally pleased or miffed? Let us know in the comments, and thanks for joining us!
22:02And there we have it! There were also awards for Life and Death Row, True Detective, Sky News' report on Ebola, The Paedophile Hunter, WW1 Remembered and Children on the Frontline, in case you were wondering.
21:56"I am a hack!" - Jon Snow on his surprise at winning a BAFTA Fellowship.
21:53A truly deserved award for Channel 4's Jon Snow, one of the UK's best broadcasters. And let us not forget this moment:
21:50The last award of the night, it's the BAFTA Fellowship Award, with Mr Rory Bremner handing it out to Jon Snow. Not that one.

21:46Now for the Leading Actor prize - and it's the second award of the night for The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies - Jason Watkins wins! Beating tough competition from James Nesbitt, Benedict Cumberbatch and Toby Jones - two big upsets there?
21:42Christopher Eccleston is handing out the award for Leading Actress - and it goes to Murdered by My Boyfriend's Georgina Campbell - a hell of a win as she was up against Sheridan Smith, Sarah Lancashire and Keeley Hawes. And she looks like the most surprised award winner of all time.

21:40"Suddenly, I'm Ed Balls" - best line of the evening from award loser Graham Norton.
21:39A slightly hoarse Mary Berry up on stage to present Best Entertainment Performance. And it of course goes to... PJ & Duncan! That's their fourth TV BAFTA thus far.

21:34A very deserved win for the cult hit Detectorists starring Mackenzie Crook and Toby Jones, the man who is in everything by law.

21:33Downton meets Thrones as Sophie McShera and Maisie Williams present Best Scripted Comedy, we'd watch that show. Arya teaches Daisy how to use a sword.
21:28Best Single Drama is awarded to BBC Two's Marvellous starring Toby Jones. Second award of the night!

Is that the biggest win of the weekend? Absolutely Marvellous! Congratulations to all. One more #BAFTATV to go... pic.twitter.com/7XcnSiYNKQ

21:26Haha, David Harewood bemoans still being called the "Homeland star" despite not being in it for years. Damian Lewis probably has the same issue, Dave.
21:25Alan Sugar is PISSED.
21:24The Island beats tough competition from I'm a Celebrity, The Apprentice and The Undateables. Deserved? No Bear Grylls in attendance, he's probably up a tree rationing his urine.
21:22Reality & Constructed Factual next - so anything from Big Brother to Top Gear to Made in Chelsea, and it's Emma Willis to host.
21:19It's been on for years, but Grand Designs is still good enough to triumph over Bake Off, Amazing Spaces and Long Lost Family.
21:18Amanda Abbington to present the Features award - which is essentially reality shows that aren't all Big Brother-y.
21:15Great to see Clive James appear via video, try and track down some of his programmes if you can.

21:11Charlie Brooker has arrived, and we can't tell if he's annoyed at missing out on an award earlier, as he's always grumps. My kind of man. He's here to present a Special Award to Clive James. Great man.
21:09Pretty sure the Beeb just cut some kind of Tory criticism in Jessica's speech there, but who knows.
21:08Best Female in a Comedy is won by... Jessica Hynes for W1A! Yar, yar, totes. She looks completely surprised, just like Matt Berry did earlier for the male equivalent award.

21:05Maisie Williams looks like she's added Steven Moffat to her Game of Thrones kill list.
21:04

Oh that's lovely! Thanks to all who voted #Sherlock for the @BAFTA audience award. The Game is on!

What to Read Next

21:04Next up is the only award voted for by the public, the Radio Times Audience Award - and it goes to... Sherlock! Weird, these awards always go to One Direction.
Clothing, Human, Dress, Flooring, Trousers, Event, Outerwear, Formal wear, Style, Carpet, pinterest

21:02The Specialist Factual award is handed to Channel 4's Grayson Perry: Who Are You?. Sadly he ain't here tonight but I'm sure he's loving the win.
20:58Always moving - here is the In Memoriam section of the evening. Some true TV icons from Rik Mayall to Leonard Nimoy to Joan Rivers.
20:53Haha, Hugh Bonneville knew it, he holds up a 'Loser' sign - best 'Commiseration Face' ever?

.@hughbon doesn't seem too disappointed at not winning tonight...#BAFTATV pic.twitter.com/gNeUfSZxJJ

20:53Best Male Performance in a Comedy award goes to... Toast of London's Matt Berry! Happy or angry that Brendan O'Carroll didn't win?
Clothing, Trousers, Coat, Shirt, Flooring, Outerwear, Dress, Collar, Formal wear, Suit trousers, pinterest

20:51Anna Friel! Good to see her back. Bring back Pushing Daisies!
20:49And the award goes to... Happy Valley! A ruddy excellent drama, that. Watch it if you haven't already.
20:48Glee's Dianna Agron (she's doing a West End play) and Freddie Fox present Best Drama. Lots of gooduns this year.
20:46The audience seems a bit shocked by that one, including the winners themselves. Honestly, am I the only one that thinks that result is a bit bizarre? Danny Dyer doesn't look amused.
20:45That's a bit of a surprise - despite having arguably its best year in a LONG time, EastEnders is beaten by Coronation Street. Riiiiight...
20:43Everyone's favourite Strictly host Claudia Winkleman is joined by Tess Daly to present the Best Soap prize...
20:41Have your favourites won so far? Who do you think will take home the Best Actor and Actress prizes? And of course the big Drama and Soap awards?
20:36The great Steve Coogan looking very Bond comes out to present the Special Award for the excellent writer Jeff Pope - the man behind the likes of Pierrepoint, Cilla and Philomena.
Face, Collar, Dress shirt, Coat, Suit, Facial hair, Blazer, Award, Award ceremony, Pocket, pinterest

20:33Gemma Jones wins the prize for Marvellous! She looks genuinely shocked, and she appears to be wearing an outfit from a Renaissance Fair.
Dress, Flooring, Carpet, Fashion, One-piece garment, Award ceremony, Day dress, Fashion design, Award, Costume, pinterest

20:30"Yay me" says a deadpan Norton. Could he present everything from now on? Up next, Russell Tovey hosting Best Supporting Actress...
20:28Of course he can - Norton does the shortest walk ever to win his award for The Graham Norton Show!
20:26Comedy & Comedy Programme up next (whatever that means). Can Graham get an award to make his evening go much nicer?
20:25James Norton has lost his blonde locks in the audience, by the way.
20:23The Honourable Woman's Stephen Rea beats Adeel Akhtar, Ken Stott and James Norton - also known as the nicest man on the planet.
Coat, Shirt, Outerwear, Suit, Collar, Dress shirt, Formal wear, Blazer, Award, Facial hair, pinterest

20:22The Good Wife's Archie Panjabi is here to present Best Supporting Actor - and she almost gives the game away by reading the winner before the nominations. Whoops! Though, that would speed things up a bit.
20:19Someone's happy (and cheeky):

Friggin hell!!!! Amazebums. X

20:18Potential upset as Sheridan Smith's Cilla is beaten by The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies. It was a very powerful piece of television so very deserved.
20:16Jason Isaacs to present the Best Mini-Series prize. He should have been Bond!
20:14They do! The loveable duo beat Strictly, Dynamo and The Voice. That is now their 583rd award in total.
Clothing, Coat, Collar, Suit, Outerwear, Formal wear, Happy, Award, Trophy, Logo, pinterest

20:13Chris O'Dowd gives an actual funny intro to his presentation of the Best Entertainment Programme award - will Ant & Dec triumph again?
20:11Sigma (guessing that's him) looking very Oliver Proudlock right now. In case you were wondering, they're performing while a montage of the year's biggest TV shows are playing in the background. Even Clarkson gets a plug.
20:08Sigma and Labrinth welcomed to the stage to perform for some reason or another - I was disappointed to see it wasn't a Siegfried and Roy tribute act.
20:07A classic amount of uncomfortable zooming in at guests' faces - so far David Harewood and Catherine Tate are looking a bit bored.
20:06Norton killing it so far - a brilliant amount of ripping The Voice and Jeremy Clarkson among others.
20:04Good, he's at least referenced the beard. And a great little Ed Balls reference.
20:03He still has the beard of beards, Graham Norton takes to the stage to host this year's event. Plus, awesome cameos from Downton Abbey, Channel 4 News, The Voice, Bake Off, Match of the Day and EastEnders! That felt very Conan O'Brien at the Emmys, which means it's good.
20:01After red carpet chats with everyone from James Corden to Jon Snow to Ant & Dec, let's get this show on the road!
19:57Are you sitting comfortably? Tea ready? Good. Let's get set for the 2015 TV BAFTAs, and get ready to whinge and cheer in equal measure!
