Survivors star Phillip Rhys has admitted that he worried about his character's upcoming romance when he was first informed about the plot.
Upcoming episodes of the show's second series will see Rhys's character Al fall for Robyn Addison's Sarah, a story which Rhys now backs.
"When it was first presented to me I thought, 'Wow - that's gonna be a tough one to pull off'," he told DS. "If you remember, last year she betrayed him.
"But yes, I think it will work. They're both narcissists who live their own lives the way they want to - with very little care or thought for others. As crazy as it is, the virus has made them better people."
Rhys also said that his character has "great taste" in women and described his co-star Addison as "gorgeous".
Survivors continues next Tuesday at 9pm on BBC One.
