As Agents of SHIELD decided to delve into Robbie Reyes' origin story in the latest episode, the inclusion of a certain somebody got fans all hot under the collar.
Although originally insisting Robbie (Gabriel Luna) got his powers through a pact with the devil, the most recent episode 'The Good Samaritan' appears to suggest otherwise.
And it totally goes off course from the original Marvel comics, by the way.

In SHIELD's take on the Ghost Rider, Robbie recalls flying out of his car during the attack against him and his brother, adding that his powers came from a Spirit of Vengeance with a flaming skull and a leather jacket.
And most of you are feeling confident that it's none other than the original Ghost Rider (Johnny Blaze) that Robbie is referring to. Petition for a Nicolas Cage MCU cameo, anyone?

Johnny Blaze isn't the only character tipped for an appearance on Agents of SHIELD – Daredevil's villainous Punisher looks to be taking part in another Marvel crossover, too.
Last week, New York Comic-Con announced that actor Jon Bernthal, who plays Frank Castle (The Punisher), would only be making limited appearances at the event due to his "Netflix production schedule".
However, with the standalone Punisher series yet to begin production alongside Marvel's Defenders series, fans thought the move a little suspicious to say the least.
The Punisher's own solo series is rumoured to be released in 2017, while Netflix is also preparing to drop a number of new Marvel shows including Luke Cage and Iron Fist in the meantime.
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD's fourth season is currently airing on ABC at its new later timeslot of 10pm.
