Death in Paradise has only just launched the official run of the Ardal O'Hanlon era, but four episodes in and viewers are already eyeing up a lead role for one of the more minor characters.
Well, that's what happens when you put a dog on our screens.
Tonight's outing to Saint-Marie left Jack and the team challenged by the mysterious world of faith healing after a woman visits a faith healer and ends up poisoned during a ceremony β but it also introduced Pico the Police Dog too.
As a star graduate of the Police Force dog unit, Pico joins the force temporarily as they weigh up whether they should apply for a Police Dog full time.
The only trouble is, Pico seems to enjoy sleeping a little bit more than working:

Not that it matters too much, though. From the moment he was introduced, the viewers were in love with him:
And as sleepy as he was, by law of introducing a police dog into the drama, obviously Pico was instrumental in solving the crime:
So, we think it's safe to say he's proved himself a worthy character and certainly one who steals all the attention too β we couldn't even tell you how the murder was solved.
