Elisabeth Moss has promised that the second season of Top of the Lake will be "darker and more f**ked up" than the first, but we still can't wait for it to drop.

So the news that the full series will be available on BBC iPlayer is music to our ears (and eyes).

Chatting about the upcoming episodes, Elisabeth Moss (Detective Robin Griffin) has been opening up about writers' Jane Campion and Gerard Lee's handiwork.

"I wanted it to be something that was a step in a more challenging direction for all of us, otherwise what's the point of going back?" she recently said.

"[Campion and Lee] took my dumb words and actually made a story out of it, that was far better than I could've ever imagined."

Top of the Lake: China Girl begins several years on from the explosive ending of the first series, with Robin returned to Sydney and trying to rebuild her life.

But when the body of an Asian girl washes up on Bondi Beach, there appears to be little hope of finding the killer, until Robin realises "China Girl" didn't die alone.

Top of the Lake: China Girl – also starring Nicole Kidman and Gwendoline Christie – is heading to BBC Two later this month.
