Be still, our beating two hearts - could Captain Jack Harkness go back to where it all started?

Well, John Barrowman has certainly shown enthusiasm for a return to Torchwood's parent show Doctor Who.

The Radio Times reports that there is a "special deal" in place for the star, and he told the publication of a potential return: "The answer is always absolutely.

"It's a show and genre that changed my life. I love it dearly and if I'm asked I would do it at the drop of a hat.

"And also my producers here in the US for the show I'm on at the moment, Arrow, they've said, 'If that did happen, we'd let you do it'."

He added: "I would love to do it, and I do know that there's a huge fanbase.

"The first question I'm always asked is, 'When are you coming back to Doctor Who?' or 'When is Torchwood coming back?' 'Would you get involved?'"

The star recently teased a Torchwood revival after being off our screens for five years, revealing that he IS in talks about how to bring it back.

"The fans know me well enough, I'm only going to say it if I mean it and believe it," he added. We will hold you to that, Barrowman.

However, the star is definitely set to bring back Captain Jack for a series of spin-off audio plays called The Lives of Captain Jack.

The episodes will delve into different points in his character's complex history, and will be released in June 2017.
