Fresh from the news that Ann Droid would be premiering very soon, we now have a first-look trailer at the new BBC sitcom starring Motherland's Diane Morgan and The Royle Family's Sue Johnston.
The upcoming comedy series is set in a world where AI is "looming larger", with the sitcom depicting the unlikely bond between the grieving Sue (Johnston) and her social humanoid robot, Linda (Morgan).
Co-written by Morgan and Sarah Kendall, it was confirmed on Thursday (2 July) that the six-part series would premiere on BBC One on 17 July, and we now have a first-look teaser trailer ahead of its launch.

The 30-second clip – which you can watch above – begins with Sue's son Michael (Paul Ready) getting his mother a gift as he prepares to move out, though she doesn't seem too enamoured with his act of generosity.
From there, we get plenty of scenes of the deadpan Linda attempting to help Sue in any way they can, often to hilarious effect. The robot also suggests some advice from Lord Alan Sugar, and offends a passer-by with a blunt question.
What to Read Next
"Sue's husband David passed away 18 months ago and her only son, Michael, is moving out – again – to try and fix his marriage – again," reads the logline for the highly-anticipated sitcom.
"But the good news is he's got Sue a surprise to help her live independently, a care provider with a difference – a second hand AnnDroid Z58/100 Basic Eldercare Robot," it continues, though the humanoid is said to be Sue's "worst nightmare".
Though Linda is "an overly attentive, socially inept pain in the arse", Sue soon discovers that the robot has its uses. With Linda's help, Sue begins to settle scores, and a budding friendship develops.

Upon the project's announcement in May 2025, Morgan, also known for her role as Philomena Cunk, quipped: "I'm thrilled that the BBC has finally commissioned a programme about AI and how it will affect your mum."
Jon Petrie, Director of Comedy at the BBC, said Morgan had "sharp comedic genius", with the upcoming series marrying "heart and high-jinks in equal measure" in a "clever and chaotic" manner.
Ann Droid premieres on BBC One at 9.30pm on Friday 17 July, with all episodes being available on BBC iPlayer the same day.
