Lupin star Omar Sy has landed his next lead movie role in John Woo's remake of his action classic The Killer.
The original 1989 film, written and directed by Woo, follows disillusioned assassin Ah Jong (Chow Yun-fat), who, after accidentally blinding nightclub singer Jennie (Sally Yeh) on his most recent job, decides to take one last hit to pay for her sight-restoring operation.
According to Deadline, Woo will return to direct the remake from a script penned by Matthew Stuecken, Josh Campbell (10 Cloverfield Lane), Eran Creevy (Collide) and Brian Helgeland (42, Legend).

Details for the reimagining's plot are yet to be disclosed, but the movie is reportedly one of three Universal originals set to premiere on Peacock in 2023.
Sy is the star of Netflix's French mystery series Lupin, which follows his character Assane as he sets out to avenge his father for an injustice inflicted by a wealthy family.
While Netflix spoiled Lupin fans by releasing Part 2 in June 2021, only six months after Part 1 debuted on the platform, Part 3 is yet to have a release date confirmed.

Earlier this year, the French actor appeared in Louis Leterrier's action comedy The Takedown, a sequel 2012's On the Other Side of the Tracks.
Sy and Laurent Lafitte starred in the Netflix movie as a pair of mismatched cops who are put together to investigate a big case.
In May it was announced that Leterrier will be taking over directing duties on Fast X from Justin Lin, but if the critical reception for The Takedown is any indication, it seems as though fans shouldn't hold their breath for the next instalment.
Lupin seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Netflix.
