Black Ops returns to the BBC for a second season with a host of guest stars, including Death in Paradise and Ted Lasso actors.

The police comedy thriller airs its first episode of season 2 tonight at 9.30 on BBC One.

Originally premiered in 2023, Black Ops follows Dominique 'Dom' (Gbemisola Ikumelo) and Kayodi 'Kay' (Hammed Animashaun), two East London police community support officers that, in an unexpected turn of events, find themselves working undercover.

The series kicks off with Dom and Kay asking to infiltrate a drug-dealing gang on a Brightmarsh estate, with Tevin, played by co-creator Akemnji Ndifornyen, being one of its leaders.

Joining the main characters this season are guests played by Death in Paradise's Cathy Tyson, Coronation Street star Nigel Havers and Ted Lasso's Annette Badland.

Ndifornyen, who co-created the series with Ikumelo, Joe Tucker and Lloyd Woolf, promised a "bigger, better and blacker" season two.

Elsewhere on the BBC, new series Waiting for the Out has recently aired its premiere, earning positive reviews from critics calling it "sensational" (via Radio Times).

With all six episodes are available to stream now on iPlayer, the series is based on Andy West's memoir A Life Inside. The show follows a man named Dan (Josh Finan), a philosophy teacher whose brother, uncle and father are all in prison.

When Dan takes a job teaching to inmates, he starts spiralling he might suffer the same fate of the men in his family as the show explores themes of masculinity, justice and the prison system.

Episode one of Black Ops season 2 airs on 8 January at 9.30pm on BBC One. The remaining five episodes will air weekly after that.
