The BBC has acquired series The Narrow Road to the Deep North, a new period drama starring Euphoria's Jacob Elordi and Kin's Ciarán Hinds.
The five-parter is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Richard Flanagan and follows the life of Dorrigo Evans, portrayed by Elordi in his younger years and by Hinds later in life.
Directed by Justin Kurzel from a script by Shaun Grant, the drama explores Dorrigo's passionate love story with Amy Mulvaney, played by Odessa Young, seen in Mothering Sunday opposite Josh O'Connor.

The TV series will also charter Dorrigo's experience during World War II and his time spent as a war prisoner, as well as his post-war career as a revered surgeon.
"The Narrow Road to the Deep North is a complex, beautiful, and heart-wrenching series which sensitively interweaves several stages in the life of surgeon Dorrigo Evans, from the passion of first love, to the unflinching depiction of life as a prisoner of war in occupied Burma," head of BBC Programme Acquisition Sue Deeks said in a statement.
