RTÉ's crime drama Kin has been nothing short of a roaring success since airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK, followed by Netflix.

The murky, criminal world is stuffed full of grade-A talent including Daredevil: Born Again's Charlie Cox, Spider-Man's Clare Dunne and Game of Thrones' Aidan Gillen, all part of the local crime family, the Kinsellas.

Gillen's actions in the gripping season two finale will almost certainly change the dynamic as we enter into season three – but will Kin be getting one?

Let's dive into everything we know about the changes of Kin's season three return.

Kin season 3: potential release date: When's it on?

Kin season three has not yet been confirmed but there's a good chance that it will be.

Emmett J Scanlan, who plays Jimmy Kinsella, appeared on This Morning where he shared that the show's new levels of success since being streamed on the BBC has resulted in "a bit of a bidding war" during the ongoing negotiations.

What to Read Next

He added: "There is a lot of interest in it. I hope it comes back again. I would love to take on the role of Jimmy again."

If the show does get greenlit soon production could kick off in early 2025. However, Kin will have to accommodate Charlie Cox's Daredevil: Born Again commitments, which may not guarantee a 2025 release date.

Still, we're getting ahead of ourselves – first, we need a green light, and as soon as we find out, we'll let you know.

Kin season 3 cast: Who will be coming back?

Who will be back for Kin season three? Not Aidan Gillen nor Francis Magee, that's for sure considering their characters, Frank and Brendan respectively, were axed in season two.

Still, we would definitely expect Charlie Cox to return as Michael Kinsella and joining him should be the following:

• Clare Dunne as Amanda Kinsella
• Emmett J Scanlan as Jimmy Kinsella
• Sam Keeley as Eric 'Viking' Kinsella
• Mark Mckenna Jr as Anthony Kinsella
• Yasmin Seky as Nikita Murphy
• Maria Doyle Kennedy as Bridget 'Birdy' Goggins
• Danielle Galligan as Molly
• Öykü Karayel as Nuray Batuk

Kin season 3 plot: What will happen?

The Kinsella family will have their hands full having to restructure, following some deaths in the family.

The finale saw the Kinsella siblings united in the decision to kill former family patriarch Bren Kinsella to protect their children from his abuse and cruel influence. However, they were beaten to the punch by Frank who had his own score to settle with his brother, after which Frank took his own life.

Jimmy's wife Amanda also had a taste of power in the end when she was trusted to take on the Turkish gang by herself. Her alliance with Öykü Karayel's Nuray (the Turkish gang's second-in-command) was instrumental in Nuray's decision to kill off her business partner and take over the enterprise, thus putting an end to the Kinsellas' debt.

We'd be interested to how this newfound working relationship manifests and just how hungry for power Amanda is.

Speaking of relationships, Amanda and Mikey got very close this season, and the fallout from that is bound to be a little bit sticky at best.

We also need to know what happened to Molly, who disappeared after her fleeting romance with Michael.

These are the types of burning questions that make a third season of Kin paramount.
