Coleen Rooney is opening up in a revealing documentary about the sensational Rebekah Vardy libel case that captivated the nation in 2022.

The three-part series Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story is streaming now on Disney+ and provides exclusive insights from Coleen herself and interviews with her family and legal team involved in the high-profile trial.

Delving into one of the decade's biggest tabloid stories in Britain, the documentary explores how Coleen transformed into an amateur online sleuth to unravel the mystery behind the continuous appearance of private family stories in the media.

The series covers the entire journey — from the viral Instagram post that nearly 'broke the internet' to Coleen's successful defence in one of the UK's most notable High Court libel cases.

It also reflects on how Coleen has navigated two decades in the public eye as a celebrity and wife of football star Wayne Rooney.

The documentary looks to get Coleen's unfiltered thoughts on the trial and viral social media post that accused "Rebekah Vardy's account" of leaking details about her private life to the media. The situation ultimately led to Coleen being dubbed 'Wagatha Christie' in reference to detective author Agatha Christie. Rebekah denied the allegations.

In July 2022, a High Court judge ruled that it was "likely" Vardy had passed information to a tabloid newspaper, and the court found in Coleen's favour.

Speaking recently to The Times, Coleen reflected on Rebekah's involvement and how she was initially surprised that a fellow footballer's wife would do this.

"Obviously Rebekah has lived my life to a degree, in the public eye," said Coleen.

"So I never thought someone would do that to someone else. But I knew she enjoyed the limelight and would do things only to be in the public eye. And the more I knew, the more I wasn't surprised."

Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story is streaming now on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
