Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 12 has left fans with a lot to talk about, including the series' original creator Gege Akutami.

Akutami, the writer and illustrator of the original manga, took to Instagram Stories to share his thoughts and a quick sketch of a pivotal moment that saw Nobara Kugisaki (Asami Seto) sucker-punched by the episode's villain.

In the post, Akutami wrote (translated from Japanese): "Thank you for season 2 episode 12. The part with Kugisaki’s brain was super cool! Manipulating time back and forward in individual cuts is a really difficult thing to do in manga!"

Akutami also called out another change from his original work, praising the anime’s adaptation of Mei Mei and writing: "The way Mei Mei handled her axe is way better than the manga!"

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 is currently in the middle of its much-anticipated Shibuya Incident Arc, which is seeing favourite characters pitted against some formidable foes.

In the latest episode, Jujutsu High student Kugisaki faced off with Haruta Shigemo, a character that briefly appeared in season one. Nobara Kugisaki loses that fight but the day was saved by Kento Nanami – a moment that caused quite a stir among anime fans.

Jujutsu Kaisen season two began airing back in July, with the Shibuya Incident Arc kicking off at the end of August.

Fans had taken to Twitter to voice their excitement at the story being adapted, with many pointing out that the show's opening credits include major hints about future plot developments.

Jujutsu Kaisen manga readers are also anticipating some crossover with 2021’s prequel movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

The film’s star Kayleigh McKee, who plays Yuta Okkotsu, shared the sentiment when speaking asked about returning to the series.

"I would certainly love it if that happened," she said. "Honestly, I know nothing of where Yuta will go from here, if anywhere, but I do know that if he comes back, I would be very excited to explore him further evolving and maturing."

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to watch on Crunchyroll, with new episodes released each Thursday.
