Derry Girls actress Siobhán McSweeney stars in the brand-new trailer for Disney+'s upcoming superhero-comedy series Extraordinary.
Set in a world where every person gains superhero powers on their 18th birthday, the story follows Jen (Máiréad Tyers), who is approaching her 25th birthday and still hasn't gotten her powers.
The series features a host of characters with incredible powers such as flying, time travel, and channeling the dead, which are all used to comedic effect.

The hilarious trailer sees Tyers' Jen struggle through early adulthood as everyone around her enjoys their powers while they treat her like she's "terminal", in her words, as she is the only adult in the world without powers.
It looks to be a satirical coming-of-age story that plays on the well-treaded genre of superheroes.

"Maybe the real power is just being yourself," says one character, with Jen replying: "That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life."
The cast features McSweeney and Tyers alongside Sofia Oxenham, Bilal Hasna, Luke Rollason, Robbie Gee, Safia Oakley-Green, and Ned Porteous. The series is created and written by Emma Moran in her debut while the makers of Killing Eve produce.

Extraordinary will be the latest Disney+ UK original series to land on the platform following Wedding Season and Save Our Squad with David Beckham.
The show launches on Disney+ in the new year on January 25, with all eight episodes dropping at once.
McSweeney is known for her role as Sister Michael in Derry Girls. Recently, legendary Hollywood director Martin Scorsese revealed that he watched Derry Girls and loved it.
Derry Girls is available to stream on All4. Extraordinary will launch on Disney+ on January 25, 2023.
