Sharon Horgan's murder mystery series Bad Sisters has received an exciting update – it's been confirmed for a second season.

In an announcement, Apple TV+ shared the news that it has renewed the critically acclaimed series meaning it will be back for a second instalment (via Radio Times).

Set in Ireland, the dark comedy series follows the Garvey sisters, who, after the death of their abusive brother-in-law, are targeted by life insurers who are suspicious of the gang. The women have plenty of reasons to kill John Paul, and the series follows the investigation into his death.

In a statement, Horgan addressed the series saying: "If you'd have told me three years ago that I'd be making a series about five murderous sisters chasing a man around Ireland trying to kill him I’d have said, 'Yeah, that sounds about right'.

Speaking about the response fans have had to the first season and the opportunity to continue to tell the story, Horgan said she was looking forward to filming in Ireland once more.

"The response to our show had been beyond what we could have hoped for. It gave us the opportunity to shine a light on stories that don’t always get such a global platform. I look forward to getting chilly in the Irish Sea one more time."
