Industry spoilers ahead.

HBO has renewed its cutthroat drama Industry for a third season.

Featuring Marisa Abela as Yasmin, Mark Dexter as Hilary, Myha'la Herrold as Harper and Harry Lawtey as Robert, the story centres on a bunch of young graduates tussling for permanent jobs at London investment firm Pierpoint & Co.

Via TVLine, the network's senior vice president of programming Kathleen McCaffrey said in a statement: "Industry reached new heights in season 2, cementing its status as a buzzy hit with addictive storytelling, layered characters, a breakneck pace, and keen observations about contemporary workplace dynamics.

"We couldn't be more excited to continue our journey with them into season 3."

The first two seasons consisted of eight episodes each, so it's safe to assume the third will follow suit.

As for where we'll pick up from, Industry season 2 came to a crashing halt as Ken Leung's character Eric Tao sacked Harper for having forged credentials.

"His motivations are intentionally ambiguous," explained Down of this twist just last month.

"From one perspective, you could say that he has been planning this since episode three and certainly since he accepted the idea of leaving Pierpoint with her. The other takeaway is that he is in some way saving her from herself, because in the finale there's a number of things Harper does, which Eric is witness to, that he feels is beyond the pale.

"There's an idea that he actually uses this relatively minor indiscretion of forging her transcript to get her out of the industry."

Industry airs on HBO in the US and BBC Two in the UK.
